I don't know about how high the idle rpm should be
but I'll tell you this, my Savage has been backfiring
since day one. I've changed the exhaust and re-jetted
the carb and every time I shut the bike off after a
long ride, it gives a big, loud bang! I've put 31k on
it with no major mechanical problems at all. I know I
preach this all the time but whatever you do, CHANGE YOUR
OIL ON A REGULAR BASIS AND KEEP THE LEVEL UP AT ALL TIMES IF
you want a long engine life.
